As an adept multitasking, problem-solving, and safety-promoting Facilities and Grounds Operative for Universities by Sodexo in University of Greenwich – Avery Hill Campus, SE9 2UG. You will provide operational support in facilities management and housekeeping services, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance, and compliance with health and safety standards. This role requires flexibility, teamwork, and an ability to perform both reactive and planned maintenance alongside cleaning and housekeeping duties. Your expertise will be vital in helping us enhance operational excellence by identifying areas / components that require repair or replacement. You belong in a team where you can act with purpose and thrive in your own way.What you’ll do:Ensure full compliance with ACOP L8 water hygiene regulations, including daily descaling and flushing of low-usage outlets, and submitting water quality forms at the end of each shift. Operate descaling equipment safely and effectively, following COSHH guidelines and only after receiving proper training.Maintain the site grounds, including litter picking, leaf clearing, bay marking, and responding to adverse weather by salting paths or clearing snow.Inspect and maintain waste storage areas weekly, ensure proper waste segregation, and report any cross-contamination.Provide porter support in accommodation, including the replacement of white goods and furniture as needed.Conduct weekly fire alarm tests and assist with reactive maintenance tasks reported via help desk or directly by students/staff.Report unresolved maintenance issues to the Facilities Team for escalation to specialist engineers or contractors.Ensure company vehicles are maintained, records are up to date, and all transport compliance requirements are met.Attend required training courses, follow PPE protocols, carry out safety walks, report near-misses, and maintain tidy and hazard-free work areas.Support events such as open days and summer lets, assist across departments during absences, and undertake any reasonable task as directed by the Deputy Facilities Manager.CateringTo support catering when requested.Support catering cleaning friers on a weekly basis.Receive catering deliveries and store on the appropriated location allocated by the Catering Supervisor.Assist with hospitality deliveries when required.For a full list of responsibilities please view the attached job descriptionWhat you bring:EssentialEffective communication skills with customers, clients, and staff.Ability to work under pressure and meet performance criteria.Positive attitude toward learning and professional growth.Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative.Strong team player.Flexible approach to work shifts, including adjustments during out-of-term periods DesirableExperience in a similar accommodation environment.Familiarity with Sodexo policies and procedures.What we offer:Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater.
