Then we may have just the role for you.We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section Manager (Quarry)to join and lead our friendly operations team at our Tarmac Tyttenhanger Quarry, which is located inSt Albans. Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesThe Section Manager (Quarry) will manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.As Section Manager (Quarry)you will also be responsible for:Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team to ensure business continuity and reduce business riskLeading change and continuous improvement initiatives, whilst maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reportsUnderstand different methods of winning and extracting raw materialKnowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry, including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniquesUnderstanding Quarry Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8 appointment DAll aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operationsProactively managing an effective maintenance scheme for the quarry plant and equipment working closely with the site's maintenance teamMaintaining and implementing existing and new, Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the sameManaging and overseeing the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site’s equipment fixed and mobile with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partnersReporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practicesIssuing of safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational teamManaging proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrixCollating and report on monthly performance KPI for your business unit for the Operations Manager and driving operational performance through KPI’sEnsuring appropriate Contractor and visitor inductions are carried out in line with company proceduresKey Stakeholders you will liaise within the responsibilities of this role:Area Operations Manager - Operations Manager - Health & Safety team - Procurement and support teams - National Logistics team - Area Operations teams - Area Commercial teams - Area HR Manager - Industry Bodies - CustomersThis role is a Days role Monday to Friday, but flexibility is key to this role with the expectation to be available to meet with our plant’s operational needsTo be successful in the role ofSection Manager (Quarry) you will ideally have experience and knowledge of:Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives TechnologySHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6Highly experienced in Quarrying OperationsIOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageousFull knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work SystemsWorking knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policiesStrong IT skills including a high level of competence with SAP and the Microsoft packages – Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to multitask and manage change
