We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to work as an Officer within the Environmental Protection team at West Northants Council.We promise a varied and interesting workload that includes managing a caseload of investigations, customer requests and enforcement referrals, in addition to advising on planning and licensing consultations. There is also the opportunity to improve and protect the quality of the environment including contaminated land, air and noise pollution.The role can be based at any of our three locations, and flexible working will be supported.  It will be expected that the successful candidate can attend the office or other locations as required from time to time.Our benefitsYou can also see our full list of employee benefits on our careers site here: Why you should work for us | West Northamptonshire Council.What will you be doing?Working within a team of Environmental Protection Officers to enforce a range of environmental health legislation relating to contaminated land, industrial/commercial emissions, air quality, noise, construction impacts and nuisance.Provide professional advice in accordance with the Council's corporate objectives, statutory responsibilities and environmental policies. Prosecuting breaches of environmental protection, nuisance and public health legislation including investigating, gathering evidence, case file preparation and giving evidence in court.About youYou will have excellent communication skills and experience of working with partner organisations to develop strong links with internal colleagues and external partners.Be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of a subject relevant to the role, such as contaminated land or noise controlYou will have a full driving license and use of a vehicle to undertake the duties of the post.You will fully understand the role in the context of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.You will be able to use noise and other monitoring equipment to gather data and be able to analyse and interpret resultsAbout us At West Northants Council, it’s about our people.
