Please Note: This is a 3 month contract initially Successful candidates will be required to hold an Enhanced DBS, valid within the last 12 months, and be Children's Barred List Checked Social Work degree HCPC Registration required There is one role with CSE lead (Oversight of CSE referrals strategy meetings, themes, trends) The other role is to support LADO work. Skills Required: Child Protection conference chair Child Sexual Exploitation lead LADO experience. Purpose: To contribute to the provision of an effective child protection service by chairing multi-agency Child Protection conferences To provide expert safeguarding advice and consultation to the department and outside agencies To quality assure multi-agency service delivery and support and challenge practice in the best interest of our most vulnerable children and young people To identify and promote areas of good practice and contribute to practice improvement Responsibilities: To chair Child Protection Conferences using Signs of Safety methodology Drive the use of Signs of Safety across the multi-agency partnership To provide expert advice and consultation on all child protection matters to Service Managers, Team Managers and Social Workers in the department and members of outside agencies To chair or attend sub-committees, undertaking delegated tasks providing routine and ad hoc reports and providing information and analysis of current research and practise development Drive good practice around CSE including chairing CSE Strategy meetings and complex strategy meetings Ensure the LADO role is embedded across the partnership including promoting the LADO role and ensuring learning from LADO issues leads to practice improvements Contributing to the overall effectiveness of services to children and young people Develop areas of safeguarding practice expertise and delivering training and workshops to promote these areas Chair strategy meetings and complex strategy meetings where appropriate CYP representative to multi-agency forums such as MAPPA, MARAC and VAWG To provide training both within the Division and the LSCB network To monitor the preparedness of parents, carers and children for Child Protection Conferences and ensure that they participate as fully as possible in the process To monitor the quality of work, written and verbal social work reports to Child Protection Conferences and the thoroughness of the implementation of protection plans to contribute to the overall quality assurance function of the service To respond to any complaints raised by professionals or family members during the process of an investigation, Child Protection Conference or thereafter To prepare reports on Child Protection matters for the LSCB and its sub-committees and senior managers as requested To set up practice support groups for social workers, their managers and appropriate members of the inter-agency network on particular aspects of child protection activity. To set up and support such groups To maintain effective liaison with all appropriate agencies working in the field of child protection and to identify and develop links with agencies Essential: Degree level social work qualification Evidence of current registration with HCPC Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Substantial post-qualifying experience including statutory work with children and their families An in-depth knowledge of the delivery of services to children and their families and the current issues and legislation affecting them Knowledge of Signs of Safety Substantial experience as a Team Manager or equivalent with evidence of managing complex child protection issues and driving good practice Track record of achievement at a management level in a similarly large and complex organisation including working in a range of roles across CYP, developing outcome focussed multi-agency plans to meeting individual children's needs, effectively providing support and challenge to team managers, social workers and partner agencies in delivering outcome focused interventions, plans and services, confidence escalating issues of concern as appropriate, experience of quality assurance including completing high quality audits and using these to drive practice improvement Further Skills and Abilities: Ability to support and challenge social workers, partners and managers to provide the highest quality of service in the interest of children and young people Ability to identify practice trends and drive improvement in practice and multi-agency working Leadership and management skills Communicating and influencing skills Able to analyse, interpret and present information effectively for action and decision making Ability to manage difficult or high-risk casework Able to cope with pressure in an appropriate manner
