I would like to hear from you if the answer to these questions is yes! I am working with a large primary school that caters for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, including moderate to severe autism. They are looking to recruit a dedicated and proactive learning support assistant, who is passionate about working children with SEN and is able to use hoist equipment for the moving and handling of students.

* Start asap – continue in September if you are successful and like the school
* Key stage 3 class comprising 9 students with a mixture of physical/medical needs
* Support the class teacher and work collaboratively with 3 other teaching assistants
* Take part in sensory development and work on verbal and non-verbal communication
* Use hoist equipment on a daily basis for moving and handling
* Provide personal care – toileting and changing
* Work school hours – 08:30am – 15:30pm Monday to Friday, term time only

Relevant training in Makaton, PECS, moving and handling, first aid or safeguarding is desirable. Once registered with Teaching Personnel you will be eligible to book yourself onto any of the training courses that we offer, which will either be free or at a reduced cost.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
