We have a brilliant new opportunity for an experienced Youth Justice Officer to work within the London Borough of Enfield.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the planning and delivery of individual programmes to prevent young people from becoming involved in crime and for those who have already offended, implementing these programmes with other youth offending team workers.

Main Duties:

* Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records of all activities and in accordance with target objectives and national standards
* To do direct one to one and group work with young people age 8 to 19 who may display difficult, challenging and aggressive behaviour
* To undertake all duties in relation to the provision of assessment, report writing, supervision and case management regarding all matters relating to young people entering the Youth Justice System in accordance with Local and National Standards
* To enable and encourage parents/carers to play a constructive role addressing their child's offending behaviour
* To ensure all programmes are delivered in line with the Youth Justice Boards Key Elements of Effective Practice to young people at risk of offending and those who are subject to reprimands, final warnings and statutory orders imposed by the courts, including through-care for young people serving custodial sentences, and post-release supervision
* To assess young people who are at risk of having bail denied by the court
* To devise and implement suitable community programmes to support periods of remand as and where appropriate
* To work closely with other resources and agencies providing a service to young offenders or those at risk of offending, and provide information on changes in legislation, practice and procedures
* To maintain and record all aspects of each young persons passage through the criminal justice system as it operates

Essential Skills and Experience Needed:

* Experience of working with young offenders and the criminal justice system, and of implementing the Children Act 1989 and criminal justice legislation
* Must be an experienced case manager with extensive experience completing Asset Assessments, ROSH, Risk Management plans and Vulnerability Management plans
* Competent in managing high risk cases such as bail and remand, DTO and ISS
* Ability to present information, write and produce written reports
* Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in writing and face-to-face with a wide range of people

Job Requirements:

An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential

Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience working in a Youth Offending setting

All applicants must be Social Work Qualified with a valid HCPC registration

Will accept newly qualified candidates with Youth Offending placement experience
