Job Description: Ensure on-time delivery from a number of critical and strategic suppliers
Responsible for the purchasing and inventory management of a group of commodities.
Support the commercial and contractual supply chain activities connected with procuring materials and services in support of the manufacture and service of the Test product range.
Purchase the necessary quantities of raw materials, equipment supplies and services at the most economical cost and lowest inventory, for delivery at the time and location specified by MRP, Kanban or Sales Orders.
Request quotations from existing vendors and negotiate improved prices and suitable terms and conditions of supply.

Responsible for the procurement and orderbook management of a range of components and assemblies and ensure that cost effective procurement is achieved in line with corporate business initiatives. Attention to detail and a willingness to incorporate best practise into an established company are essential. This role backfills an existing position, currently dedicated to orderbook management and on time delivery, which will now be focussed on the introduction of a SAP ERP system.

Responsibilities: Supply Control:
Provide purchasing and supply services conducted either by MRP push or Kanban pull.
Following receipt of MRP material order recommendations, organise the cost effective and timely procurement of required materials to support works order issue schedules.
Where supplier delivery schedules do not support production, proactively escalate or locate alternative sources of material supply.
Liaise closely with other functions and organisations within the company to ensure timely and accurate exchange of information.
Escalate and communicate potential supply problems to the Purchasing Manager.
Timely and effective communication of forecast and purchasing orders to suppliers;
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.

Purchasing Control:
Act as the prime interface between the company and its key suppliers.
Support the Senior Management Team in defining procurement and inventory budget plans and milestone objectives.
Support complex supplier negotiations.
Regularly attend production control meetings, and purchasing and supply review meetings.
Check and authorise designated invoices for stock, packaging and carriage items
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.

SUBSIDIARY ELEMENTS
Identify specific areas for cost savings, make recommendations and implement improvements where required.
Maintain an appropriate meeting schedule with suppliers and provide feedback to senior staff on issues arising.
Prioritise requirements based on current purchasing reports and raise the relevant orders on the ERP system in a timely and efficient manner in the with ‘best practice’ purchasing principles of JIT; KANBAN; MPS; MRP; LEAN PRODUCTION and relation needs.
Operate to the defined BS EN ISO9000:2000 quality standards.
Ensure personal and supply team effectiveness, proactively managing problems that arise.
Consider personal and supply team training needed to perform the necessary functions to the best of their abilities.

Qualifications &
Experience: Essential
A’ Level /HNC or equivalent.
MRP/ERP systems, particularly SAP.
Purchasing experience in a manufacturing/electronics industry sector.
Commercial understanding of the supply chain and the procurement cycle.
Excellent understanding of efficient materials flow and best practice;
Experience in dealing with global suppliers.
Technical procurement experience.

Desirable
CIPS qualified (or equivalent) or working towards.
