Rostered 12 hour shift working, carrying out safety and security rounds within the ship.

Act as point of contact in the event of an on-board incident/accident Lock off and Tagout (LOTO) of Marine and Weapon engineering systems and equipment.

Maintain Tagout database and produce reports as required by the Ship Warden Supervisor.

Authorisation and control of Permits to work associated with Hot Work, Working at Height, diving and SHIPHAZ.

Low Voltage Electrical and Mechanical maintenance and keep alive of ship systems and equipment.

Operation of Marine Auxiliary systems and equipment as required.

Assist with Inboard connection/disconnection of dockside services required to support ship.

Connect/disconnect shore power, including Main switchboard operation.


Ideally, you will have at least 3 years RN Marine Engineering or relevant plant engineering discipline.

Recent MCMV experience is highly desirable. Qualification RN Marine Engineering Operator grade C certificate or equivalent. IOSH Managing Safely – desirable

In addition, you will ideally be qualified in the operation and maintenance of Marine electro mechanical systems and equipment, as well as knowledge of TAGOUT and RADHAZ procedures as applied to RN Ships.

Specific Knowledge of Type 45’s would be an advantage, but there is potential for training those that are not familiar with this class.

All Ship Warden Technicians are expected to Watch keep on a roster basis, this includes being able to carry out both electrical and mechanical isolations and check for zero potential using appropriate test equipment, as well as assisting with the connection/disconnection of Shore side Services and embarkation of bulk fluids.

Main Responsibilities:

* Operation and Low Level Maintenance of ship Electro/ Mechanical equipment and Systems.
* Control of Permits to Work
* Control of RADHAZ
* TAGOUT of Electro/Mechanical systems and equipment.
* Maintenance of Fixed and portable Firefighting equipment.
* Maintain Movement of Weights and Underwater Valve logs when ship is in Dry Dock.
* Watch keeping on Electro/ Mechanical equipment and Systems and rounds of Weapon Equipment, including control of watertight integrity and emergency isolation of systems.
* Additional Information from the client:

* A detailed knowledge of fluid systems on a sea-going vessel or offshore platform is essential. In particular, the knowledge of how these systems are made safe when work is to be carried out. Demonstrable capability to read Engineering Drawings is essential.
* A detailed knowledge of how electrical power is generated and distributed in a sea-going vessel or offshore platform is essential. Knowledge of how Low Power systems are made safe is essential. Knowledge of how High Power systems are made safe is desirable. HV courses are available which can be done “in-post” that will provide the necessary awareness.
* All records are held in soft-copy. A detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including MS Access is essential.
* Watch keeping - A demonstrable knowledge and experience of how to complete a safe set of rounds is essential.
